Client

Carbon Business is a project to encourage and assist business in identifying and responding to climate change risk – a risk that is increasingly being seen as unacceptable to business' stakeholders. All over the world, business is developing a response to climate change, not necessarily motivated by philanthropy, altruism and corporate responsibility, but because it can be profitable and that's the most decisive incentive to promote action.

Challenge

Carbon Business required a website that would represent all aspects their project.

Carbon Business also wanted to allow individuals and businesses to subscribe to Carbon Business online.

Carbon Business needed to be able to edit and manage the content of each page with ease.

Solution

RichardPI created a site that has a professional look, simple feel and clear navigation.

The website was developed using Joomla, an open source Content Management System - customised for the specific needs of our customer. The CMS has features which enable clients to easily create and modify all content within the website. The CMS also allows categorisation of events, videos and articles, which makes the system intuitive and easy to use.

Flash technology has been incorporated to create dynamic animation which in turn compels the user to visit the video section of the website.

The video section uses Flash, technology which is present on more than 90% of computers. The video is well optimised, high quality, cross-platform and doesn't require any additional plug-ins such as Windows Media Player or Quick Time.

Technology

Customised CMS based on Joomla
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
XHTML, CSS, W3C compliant
Flash video: FLV
Level A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 , including all Priority 1 checkpoints.
